Zora Neale Hurston : Folklore, Memoirs, and Other Writings

This anthology contains some of my favorite works by Zora Neale Hurston, but the book itself comes exclusively in the Library of America's standard uniform cover art style: black background, blue-red-white striping, and large white script. I decided to lasercut an alternative book jacket with some of my favorite lines from the anthology.

 

I wanted to highlight the earthy green of the cloth cover and leave the gold-toned "Hurston" lettering on the spine visible, so I designed it to be shorter than a standard book jacket.
